The Whangaparāoa Peninsula boasts one of Auckland’s most popular parks, Shakespear Regional Park is located at the very end of the Whangaparāoa Peninsula.
The park is an open sanctuary and covers a large portion of the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, the walking trails are open to the public with stunning views of Auckland City and the Hauraki Gulf.
Shakespear Regional Park includes relics from the war with a gun emplacement facing the Hauraki Gulf and a spectacular coastal walk along the rocky coastline.
Gulf Harbour Marina
The Gulf Harbour Marina is located midway along the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, and is one of New Zealand’s largest marinas, take a stroll around the marina or take a break at one of the restaurants or cafes located at the marina.
There are numerous activities to participate in at the Gulf Harbour Marina, you can board a charter boat out to Tiritiri Matangi Island in the Hauraki Gulf.
This is a nature reserve located just off the end of the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, this is a full day trip as the island has many attractions like walking trails, wildlife and spectacular Hauraki Gulf Views, fishing charters are also available from the Marina.
Orewa Beach
Orewa Beach is on of the most popular beach’s in the area, located just north of Whangaparāoa Peninsula this beach is extensive, in the summer this place is busy, the swimming and surfing is great and life guards are on duty during the summer months.
Orewa is a great place to explore, the city center is home to many popular restaurants and cafes, there are numerous shops to explore in the city center, a great place to unwind and relax.
Wenderholm Regional Park
One of the most popular places along the Hibiscus Coast is the Wenderholm Regional Park, located north of Orewa and at the Puhoi River mouth this park is a great place to visit any time of the year.
Wenderholm Regional Park is a fantastic place for all the family, you can have a barbecue on the waterfront with spectacular Hauraki Gulf Views.
There is a walking trail located within the park ideal for all the family, you can explore the parks extensive coastline, or hire a kayak and navigate up the Puhoi River to the famous Puhoi Pub.
